Marshalls wins 2009 PLC Award for Achievement in Sustainability
Friday, March 12, 2010
Garden supply specialist and UK Network member Marshalls was announced winner of the 2009 PLC Award for Achievement in Sustainability on 12 March for the second year in a row.
Despite the economic downturn, the company successfully demonstrated an ongoing commitment to making its operations more economically, environmentally and socially sustainable. Among the company’s initiatives, Marshalls produces carbon labelling for its entire range of products, providing customers with the level of carbon dioxide emitted in the manufacturing process. This is part of a wider priority to provide consumers with environmental and ethical information, enabling them to make informed decisions.
In addition, Marshalls continues to cut its carbon dioxide emissions and has set targets for reducing its water consumption and the waste the company sends to landfill.
The PLC Awards event was founded in 1987 to reward excellence in the smaller quoted company sector.
