859 companies delisted for failure to Communicate on Progress
Wednesday, February 03, 2010

Demonstrating a strong commitment to protecting the integrity of the Global Compact, the Global Compact Office delisted 859 companies between 1 October 2009 and 1 January 2010 for failing to adhere to the initiative’s public disclosure policy.

As Global Compact signatories, companies are required to issue an annual progress report covering their implementation of the ten principles. Failure to communicate for more than one year leads to a company being delisted.  As a positive indication of communication on progress among UK signatories, only 9 of the 859 delisted companies were UK companies.
